A USB Replacement for the Heath Serial Card

The FD245 on its own card

A prototype of a possible replacement for the Heath three-port serial card. This one has provisions for two FTDI FD245 break out boards, though only one is currently installed. The headers for the Heath boards are on .100 inch centers, but the header for the data lines (ten pins) is offset from the header for the power and control signals. That is, the distance between the bottom data header pin and the top control header pin is not an integer multiple of .100 inch. This complicates positioning of the mating sockets on the prototype, ergo, the pigtail for the data pins.
